New faculty orientation

New Faculty Mentoring Program

The Baskin School of Engineering is running a Mentoring Program for New Faculty intended to help set up new Baskin Engineering faculty for success in their research and teaching careers and to foster a sense of community among newly arriving colleagues and across the School. Each new faculty member participates in a one-year mentoring program. The program has three core components:

  • Meetings with the Associate Dean for Research at the beginning and end of the program;
  • Regular meetings with a faculty mentor from the department;
  • Mini-symposium for all participants in late fall/early winter, featuring short presentations by new faculty as well as senior colleagues and staff on topics of general importance

Mentorship is recognized as part of a faculty member's service contributions. For questions, please contact the Associate Dean for Research (adr@soe.ucsc.edu)
